UTM parameters

UTM parameters let you track traffic from your social posts in Google Analytics or any other analytics tool. When enabled, PostRecycle automatically appends UTM tags to all links in the schedule.

How to enable

Open the schedule, find the UTM parameters section, tick Use UTM parameters, and fill in the fields:

  • utm_source (required) — identifies the traffic source, e.g. postrecycle or newsletter
  • utm_medium — identifies the medium, e.g. social
  • utm_campaign — campaign name, e.g. spring_sale
  • utm_terms — custom parameter
  • utm_content — custom parameter (useful for A/B testing)

Dynamic tokens

You can use two special tokens in any UTM field:

  • %channel% — replaced at publish time with the name of the channel being published to
  • %category% — replaced with the name of the category the post was pulled from

Example

utm_source=postrecycle&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=%category%&utm_content=%channel%

This will tag each post with the category and channel it came from, letting you compare performance across different content types and platforms.

Notes

  • UTM parameters are appended to the post's link URL. If the post has no link, UTM parameters have no effect.
  • Pro and Agency plans only.
